Welcome to Douglas Park Retreat, your home away from home. Relax in this 1924 Craftsman character house, fully modernized and furnished with all the amenities you'll need. The original oak floors, hand-carved baseboards and high ceiling give this home an unparalleled charm and warmth fitting its heritage. The retreat like setting, close to the heart of the city, is a welcome alternative to the frenzy of downtown Vancouver. Inside, the house is bright and welcoming with its large windows that look onto the beauty of its natural surroundings. This spacious and well-laid out home can accommodate large or small groups.
You will enter into a sizable enclosed porch, perfect for reading or relaxing in the summer. The main floor has a flow-through living room with a cozy gas fire place and surround-sound entertainment system, a dining room with a mahogany suite that easily seats six, two queen bedrooms with expansive closets and a full 4-piece bathroom. The gourmet eat-in kitchen is complete with all the appliances you'll need to prepare a scrumptious meal. Out from the kitchen finds a newly built deck with a large BBQ and patio suite to enjoy the mountain views. Upstairs you'll find a double bedroom with a spacious private sitting room with a double futon that sleeps two. Downstairs contains full laundry facilities as well as a second suite with both a garden level private entrance and access via the main floor. This suite contains a kitchen, living room with pull-out sofa, dining area, 2 bedrooms queen and single beds and a full 4-piece bathroom. Up to 5 guests are easily accommodated in this suite which is included with the house, making Douglas Park Retreat suitable for families or several couples. The beautifully landscaped front and back gardens add to the ambiance and tranquility of the home. Ample unrestricted street parking is augmented with an off-road driveway on the property. The house is beautifully decorated with artisan pieces collected from around the world. Linen with a high-thread count, fluffy towels, high-speed internet, cable, local phone service, books, and board games are provided to make your stay complete.
Situated in one of Vancouver's most charming and sought-after areas, Douglas Park Retreat is on a tree-lined street with everything you'll need close-by. South is Broadway Street with its mix of bookstores, ethnic restaurants, and services. A few blocks beyond is Granville Island with its renowned artisan shops, fresh food market, theatres, pubs, and restaurants. Just four blocks to the west is the fabulous Granville Street with the latest fashions, quaint art galleries, live theatre and some of the finest dining in the city. To the east is the vibrant Cambie Village with its boutiques, organic grocers, cozy cafes, and many fusion restaurants. A bit further east is eclectic Main Street with its mix of Asian restaurants, antique shops, local designers and family businesses. A few blocks to the north is the local King Edward Mall where all your daily needs are met and beyond that the large Oakridge Mall with its mix of high-end shops, department stores, theatres, and one-of-kind outlets.
Centrally located with easy access to the airport and downtown, you will find yourself quickly reaching most tourist venues such as Stanley Park, Chinatown, False Creek and Science World. Closer to home, Douglas Park is considered one of the most beautiful parks in the city and a great neighbourhood for walking, cycling, or rollerblading. Vancouver's rapid transit system is a short 7 minutes walk while just half a block from the house are buses that will connect you to all parts of the city. Wonderful sandy beaches and the UBC endowment lands with its hiking trails are easily reached in 15 minutes. The designated bike routes close to the house will take you to the city center, Richmond and the endowment lands.
This home is ideal for Olympic visitors with its walking proximity to the curling venue at the Vancouver Olympic Centre called Nat Bailey Stadium, and Athletes village at False Creek. Just a short drive away is all the other Vancouver venues UBC Thunderbird Arena, Canada Hockey Place or known as GM Place, Pacific Coliseum, Richmond Speed Skating Oval and Cypress Bowl ski hills. The bus to Whistler stops close to the house ensuring your transportation needs are easily met.

The first payment is a deposit of 50% of the accommodation total plus applicable taxes due at time of booking. The balance is due 45 days prior to occupancy. Damage deposits are a pre-authorized hold on your credit card and are collected only if deemed necessary.
Visa, MasterCard, American Express and a Bank Wire Transfer are all accepted methods of payment. All payments are in Canadian dollars. All reservations must be secured by a credit card.
