Everything went well with our 1 month stay. We enjoyed the open layout of the cottage with the view of the bay. It was in a great location. Everything worked well. Loved the view, patio and gardens. We did speak directly to the owner about the need of blinds for the cottage to provide some privacy especially at night. All went well until we checked out. We received an email accusing us of putting tinfoil in the oven and which apparently caused some damage. We did not put tinfoil in the oven. The EMR rep did not ask us if we did this, but assumed that we did. We are not happy about how EMR communicated with us on this matter. We would have appreciated a phone call asking us whether we had used tinfoil, instead of accusing us. We are currently waiting for an appology.
My daughter and I were so pleasantly surprised at the very high quality amenities and furnishings in this apartment. It was clean and easy to live in, with a wonderful balcony over the mature gardens.
The home and setting were very nice. The general condition was clean and ready for use. The rental staff weren’t very knowledgeable about the property and what was included but overall our experience was positive. If you’re looking for a quiet rental within short driving distance to amenities then this is an excellent location…
We rented the suite while we were renovating our townhouse. It was the perfect loction for us at this time. After a hard day’s work it was lovely to sit comforably in our home away from home.
We appreciated the efforts of the caretaker, Bryan to take care of any of our concerns.
What a fantastic property! Perfect for a large family. Four nice sized bedrooms and a great kitchen. Very clean. Moreover, great assistance from the rental company. Good and quick communication. Overall, a super experience. Thanks!
We had several small issues upon check-in but EMR took care of most of them right away. Great location and with a little TLC, this home would be awesome. Furniture and carpet are worn, patio door does not lock, lots of smudges on the walls, missing artwork & light bulbs, cracks in the master bath tile, broken master bath drawer, etc. We did have a wonderful time in Victoria!xperience. Thanks!
We enjoyed the shade over the front deck for eating dinner and using the hot tub.
Location is less than 10 minutes from Lk Cowichan town.
Could not view our boat moored at the dock from the house.
Property management team were responsive to our calls.derful time in Victoria!xperience. Thanks!
This little cottage on North Lake is a gem. Brilliant, refreshing and clean lake made for perfect swimming. ?Cottage had all the conveniences from home and private too. We are already fantasizing about going back next summer but next time for a week!
We were 2 couples enjoying this amazing cottage. It was very well maintained and in a perfect location. Situated in a beautiful neighborhood. There is beach accessibility just down the street for a nice walk as well. If you like to walk it is a nice walk into town. Management company is very accessible and easy to work with. Overall we loved this place and would go an.
There were 12 of us adults, celebrating my parents 60th wedding anniversary! The home and location was perfect! Would highly recommend this property.
Our only suggestion from the ladies was they wished there was mirrors in the bedrooms as they got ready in the morning.
There were 7 of us, it was like our own home. Very clean with plenty of towels, pots and pans and dishes and very spacious, we were never on top of each other! And the location couldn’t have been better – located within a 45 minute drive from everything we did whale watching excursion, scuba diving, kayaking, hiking, golfing both regular and miniature, peaceful walks, wineries, beach walking and much more we didn’t do! The weather was also wonderful. We highly recommend this beautiful house and vacation spot to anyone!
We were here for a family wedding & thoroughly enjoyed our stay – morning walks along the beach, lots of cycling paths nearby, close to Sidney & the airport,a beautiful home with everything we needed and more. Great for any group up to eight people. We would definitely stay here again.
It was our second stay in this property and it was just as lovely as the first. We love the house and the neighborhood. The proximity to the beach is great too. Many lovely walks were done during our stay. My dog enjoyed the spacious yard where he enjoys the sun and the quiet.
The Manor Suite was comfortable and in a lovely area in Victoria. It was great for walking. The suite was clean and nicely decorated. Both the owner and the manager were pleasant and helpful. We would happily repeat a stay there.
WE thoroughly enjoyed our stay here with our 2 grown sons. A very comfortable and well appointed cottage with everything you could possibly need in a quiet peaceful setting. It greatly enhanced our vacation.
Another reviewer said it before, I should have actually listen.
The property is fine and we had a great time.
The process through the property management called EMR or smth was awful. Worst that I have seen yet.
First I booked through VRBO so I was expecting to be done with it as I did many times before. Far from it. I received emails after emails with tons of instructions, phone calls, paperwork to fill out, send back, my credit card needed to be entered everywhere and in clear. Security whole all the way. I put in my CC once in VRBO, once I had to write it clear on the contract that I’m sure ends up in a file cabinet somewhere where the neighbor kid also has access, then I had to give it again on a 3rd party website that the property management uses to actually get your money less their vrbo listing fee, that I paid separately when I thought I was done with it. Then I had to show my cc to the greeting person which was a very nice lady btw.
What’s up with the greet thing? Welcome to 21st, leave the key under a locked pin. I had to communicate my arrival hour and set it up instead of just showing up after 5pm whenever I liked! Wake UP! It was also suggested in one of the many did I mentioned? tones of email instructions and remote web site instructions that they would also appreciate a tip, you know, if I wanted a hotel, I would go to one. They also asked to give them my complete itinerary, which I didn’t. What?? Why??
The property and the greeting lady were great, the booking process was not, by far the worst!
House was a little outdated. Lawn needed to be mowed and had a lot of weeds. The beach had a run down shed with glass on the beach. A lot of space in the yard and house. Everything in the house worked. The driveway was very steep.
This home is exactly as described in other reviews & photos it was perfect for our group. Beautiful bay & ocean views, spacious rooms, comfortable beds, private beach, dock & gazebo all on a large private lot you don’t see your neighbors. Minutes to the most amazing hiking trails East Sooke Regional Park. An older home but, well maintained. NOTE This is in a rural area about 10-15 minute winding road to get there and a steep driveway but, worth it. Closest town is Sooke, about 20-25 minutes…Victoria is about 50 minutes. Butchart Gardens about an hour. Sooke is a great little town offering many amenities restaurants, tours Kayak, Whale watching etc. Best vacation!
The photo of this beautiful home speaks for itself. When you stand on the balcony upstairs, you have a view all the way to Victoria. On a clear day it is really quite spectacular. Stores and restaurants are just minutes away. There were six of us, so with 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, it was perfect. Everyone got what they wanted. Due to the stairs from the ground level to the second level, it can be a little challenging, but not impossible for those with mobility issues. There is no shortage of entertainment since there were several TV’s, a large screen media room and a hot tub. It would be helpful to have better instructions for operating the various televisions. We were all seniors so it took us a while to figure out how everything worked. This would probably not be a problem for younger folk. The garbage disposal instructions could be clearer as well. Folks from the island might know what needs to be recycled, separated, disposed of or composted, but we did not. These were minor annoyances and in no way did they affect our enjoyment of this wonderful vacation home
The loss of several thousand dollars – attempting to partner with EMR / VRBO is just one of the significant losses to our family, because of Covid. In the end, compared to the grieving of loved ones, it’s little more than worthless money.
This condo is in a great location. It is a block away from a fabulous park, not far from the water, and near a respectable grocery store. Since it is on the fifth floor it is fairly quiet. We had a car and a designated parking spot in a covered garage. We opened the patio door and got a wonderful breeze. Certainly a reprieve from the heat of our hometown.
This is a very nice property. It was the first time it had been rented and we found a few things it needed. Very pointed this out to the property managers and I expect it will be perfect for the next renters. I would rent this property again and will definitely work with the management company. They were very good.
My husband and I stayed here with my parents and our two young daughters. From the moment we checked in to when we had to say good bye, we we’re happy with the home. We made good use of the hot tub and theatre room as well. They have a pull out couch in the main living room that we didn’t use but wasn’t advertised so if you do have an extra person they can always crash there. There’s a beautiful office as well if you happen to have to work on vacation. And the back deck is perfect with a Webber BBQ, tons of seating and a gas fire pit. Lots of sheets and towels and really everything you need, it was set up like a hotel. We feel like we were one of the first groups to stay here and really hope those after take care of the place so we can come back one day and enjoy it the same. Yvonne the property manager that helped us was always very helpful and responsive. Thanks again.
Relaxing spring get away in a wonderful location. Beautiful view of the beach! The golfing was great. Enjoyed the restaurants, pubs and shopping. People were very friendly and helpful. Thankyou EMR and thankyou to the owners for sharing such a wonderful house!
The unit was very well equipped with all cooking and bbq utensils that one could ask for. Very tastefully furnished and comfortable. Internet modem did not work, nor did the telephone. Not checked by greeter and not fixed during our stay with no accommodation offered to offset this inconvenience
Clean unit. Quiet location. Pretty gardens. Secure parking garage. Comfortable furniture with recliners. Kitchen small with two small stovetop burners and a convection microwave oven. Comfortable kingsize bed and see through fireplace to bedroom was welcome on cool evenings. Property maintenance staff readily accessible.
Our family recently spent three nights at Heron’s Landing and enjoyed everything about the house. We have rented homes for vacation stays many times and thought this was one of the best. The location close to Pat Bay is appealing and the neighborhood has a great feel to it. The proximity to the airport is handy and we weren’t troubled by hearing the occasional airplane overhead. The house is attractive and very comfortable, but what particularly impressed us was how immaculate and well organized it is. The house is very well stocked with dishes, cutlery, pots and pans etc. and since we like to cook this was important. The binder of information we were given was the most comprehensive we have ever seen, with an inventory of where to find anything we needed. We were warmly welcomed by Jeanette of EMR Vacation Rentals who gave us a thorough tour of the house so we felt secure that if we had any problems we didn’t Jeanette would sort them out. All in all, it was a great experience and we hope to go back.
Rest Haven Did not quite live up to its descriptions,
The outer pictures show it quite well. The only discrepencies were that the front and rear landings were not in the condition shown. Both front and rear landings had holes from rotting timbers and the stain was in quite poor conditions
Internally, the house was also in quite adequate condition.
Discrepancies were There was no dish washer as stated in manual. BBQ was in extremely poor cleanup
shape, Master Bedroom bed is not satisfactory for
Seniors as it is virtually on the floor. Beds in second bedroom appear to be Child Beds and not suitable for an adult.
Compared to our last Rental in Tofino, the price per day was the same, while the quality of the home was considerably less. As an additional item, we paid for Pet Friendly, and did not consider that having to clean up from the Neigbourhood Racoon was kosher!
The location was easy to find, close to the water and Down Town.
The highlight of this property is the fenced it garden which was great since we were travelling with our dog and it provided a great space for him to run and play. Other than that we found the property disappointingly basic – its a pretty old property and our first impression was it smelt damp and musty and unlived in. The main bed is low. Furnishing is to minimum standard. The kitchen cabinets are very old and basic – though the appliances are new and more than adequate. The cottage is supplied with everything you need for a stay. The laundry is located through what seems to be an old garage and definitely damp and smelly. If it wasn’t for the garden it would have been hard to enjoy this cottage – and I’m not someone who generally complains about stuff. We cut our stay short and moved on. The location is fine in a very quiet area of Sidney a short walk from water and about 25 minutes walk from main town and shops. Bit too basic for our tastes.
Heron View Cottage was a great place for our girls trip and the owner was very kind and accommodating. The cottage could still use more window coverings as we felt a little exposed at times. Overall we had a wonderful experience and would certainly stay here again. The cottage was very comfortable and the location was excellent.
We had a fantastic time at Oceanfront Escape. The views are amazing and the house is relaxing and comfortable. Although the home is in need of some updating it was still more than perfect. Everything was very clean and the beds were comfortable.
The property’s proximity to Sidney and Victoria is great. We were able to do a lot of exploring. Had a few fantastic hikes and an amazing guided kayaking tour. We also visited a couple of vineyards and the Butchart Gardens.
Somewhat pricey, however, it was Xmas & prices for hotel/rental places tend to increase. Although, it was a great value.
The kitchen had all the amenities you need to make a variety of meals.
The house was sufficient for grandparents & family of 4 as there 2 bedrooms & full bath on 2nd for, and another bedroom on main, with access to another bathroom.
No open fires allowed wood burning, but propane fire pts are acceptable.
The inside fire place was unusable, and the Apple TV was not user friendly. The TV is a Roku Samsung which is not indicated in the listing & probably helpful for people to know.
The solarium is a nice added touch, had the weather co-operated it could have been used as an extra sitting/play area for the kids. As a suggestion space heaters would have been added bonus to sit & watch the birds and seals in the ocean.
Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay.
I would not recommend the property to anyone else because of the limited parking. The parking on the street greatly crowds the passing cars. Also because of scrutiny from neighbours you feel like you can’t have visitors, raise your voice above a whisper, etc. I felt unwelcome the whole time.
We came from Innisfil, ON and Winnipeg, MB for a family wedding. We had a big group of adults and a youngster and baby. It was a lot of room for all of us with lots of sitting areas. We loved the beach access and the glassed in sitting area. The management company was very helpful. Thank you for the lovely stay.
Our stay here was almost perfect – the view of the water and mountains in the distance – wow. However, the upstairs heated up quite a bit during the day investment in sunshades would be wise. The beds were all a bit too soft, and the couple in one queen nearest the kitchen rolled toward the middle all night. Also, the greeter had turned on all the heaters, which were not needed on a 72 degree day. It took us a while to cool things down. Kitchen well-equipped, bathrooms lacked shower soap but otherwise fine. All in all, a great place to stay.
Wow! We just completed an amazing vacation to the Victoria area and on the top of our highlights was being able to stay in this spectacular mansion! Because of the space and the features of the home, we were able to easily have 2 families and a couple friends 11 people in total stay together in complete comfort and style. My friend told me that rented vacation homes never quite live up to your expectations but this place was exactly what we had hoped for and completely as it is pictured! We actually had so much space that we didn’t use every room to its full potential and there were a lot of us trying to use every feature! I have to mention some of our favorite features we did use to their full potential which were the perfect hot tub on the deck that we all enjoyed the view from while watching the sunrise or the sunset or an afternoon soak, the complete kitchen where we had everything we needed a gas stove, appliances, kitchen utensils, cutlery, endless glasses, serving bowls, etc. to whip up some excellent meals, the dining room table where we all gathered to eat and chat and play games, and I have to mention the beds that everyone said were fantastically comfortable, inviting and exactly what anyone would want. I also want to mention the management company was great to work with, easy to contact, very friendly and helpful. This was our first time renting a vacation home and it will NOT be the last time! If you are looking for a great experience, this home is truly as it says SPECTACULAR!
Just wonderful. Nice 2/1 condo walking distance to the Harbor, restaurants etc. Being located in a quiet historic neighborhood was very refreshing. Secure underground parking was a plus. The only negative was no AC. Although we didn’t need it most of the time, would have been nice on occasion. Would definitely stay there again.
Very much enjoyed our stay. I did want to let you know that the propane tank on the barbecue was empty and we did not find the time to refill it. Kathryn was very pleasant to work with and it was nice to have the computer center and printer. Over all, everything was great.
A beautiful well equipped spacious property spotlessly clean with spectacular views from most rooms deck and spa.Very peaceful location. Our children and grandchildren enjoyed biking and hiking https://emrvacationrentals.lmpm.websitkayaking and beach combing all within a short distance from the property. We would love to return next year.
A beautiful house surrounded by beautiful scenery for my staff team getaway. The rooms were perfect for what we needed and the kitchen was well stocked. My team enjoyed having easy access to the beach and the not too far drive to Victoria for outings.
Unfortunately, neither the WIFI or cable TV worked during the entirety of my team’s stay and everyday there were phone calls asking for the owners which got a bit annoying.
This was our second time staying at this relaxed, cozy garden cottage by Roberts Bay. The cottage is more like a little 2 story house. It is super clean, bright, airy and well stocked with very good bath, bed and kitchen supplies. The on-demand baseboard heating through the cottage works very well. The private garden patio is lovely. The owner takes pride in his garden and it shows. Most importantly bring binoculars to see the majestic bald eagles and such in the bay and surrounding trees!
We had a great vacation on Vancouver Island staying at Arbutus Hill. We enjoyed going hiking, swimming, going to the beach and exploring Victoria. Our 5 kids loved the hot tub and pool table and all the space we had in this beautiful house. The kitchen is supplied with everything to make meals for a large family. The deck is wonderful with the ocean view. The beach at Witty’s Lagoon is recommended to visit with kids at low tide, as well as the Sooke River potholes and go fishing or boating at Pedder Bay Marina.
We were2 families,2 parents, 2 children & 2 grandparents
The home was fabulous, the view of the ocean awsome situated in a quite neibourhood where we didn’t have to worry about the children.
The tidal pool in the back of the house gave us all hours of exploration & a safe place for the children to swim, even at high tide.
The home was close to everything & there is lots to do and see in the Parksville area, we especially liked the sand castle display on the beach & of course Coombs.
We would recommend this rental home & your company to anyone interested in spending a wonderful holiday at the ocean.
We stayed for 4 nights and had a fantastic time in Victoria. The suite is very well maintained and a super location close to everything. Great area outside to sit and enjoy a glass of wine. The Rockland area is close everything and can walk to all the attractions in Victoria. Great for you pet and close to the Cook street waterfront dog park. Defiantly will re-book this unit when we are in Victoria again.
We spent the month of March in Sidney and were very comfortable at Heron’s Landing. The house is comfortable with two gas fireplaces, comfy beds, a well equipped kitchen and lots of room. Our daughter and her family visited us there for a week and the accommodations for six of us were very good with plenty of space for everyone. EMR were efficient and helpful with everything ready for us when we arrived. We would recommend this rental to families and two or three couples to share.
We shared Christmas with all the family and have a great time walking on the forest, on the beach and visiting interesting places in the surrounding. Incredible views, deers coming to our door and nicely mantained house. An experience to repeat.
This house was perfect for our annual ladies get together we all graduated high school together. The house provided us with a very comfortable living room to hang in and chat when we were not sitting outside on the deck. The kitchen was well stocked and the house was clean. EMR was very helpful and provided great customer service. The house was exactly as described in the property description and definitely met our expectations. The view exceeded our expectations! I would highly recommend Eagle Wing Tours in Victoria for whale watching and visiting Butchart Gardens. The location of the house is about 15 minutes to major shopping areas for food go to Langford and about 40 minutes depending on traffic from Victoria. I would also suggest visiting downtown Victoria – it’s a beautiful city. This house/location was a great place for the six of us to stay for our annual vacation. I would highly recommend renting this home!
The house was beautiful and clean, although the beds could use upgrading as they aren’t very comfortable. It was stocked with more than everything you would need during a stay away from home and having the laundry facilities available is a wonderful luxury. The fenced yard is also a great treat. The description of a beach nearby is misleading, it is just a small little public area sandwiched between private property, not able to even walk to coastline a bit — you have to drive past downtown Sidney to do that. Overall it’s a GREAT vacation home and we would definitely consider it again if ever out that way!!
Very happy. We were sick for the first day back from our cruise, but the view was great and we felt as though we didn’t miss a thing. Beds being put together downstairs made a nice king. But beds upstairs were not as big as advertised. Kitchen was great.
Only one hair dryer and that one broke on the fifth day. The overhead light in the entry foyer was out as was the light in the entry closet which made it too dark but manageable. The advertised path leading to the shoreline was an exaggeration with a sign which said use at your own risk and it did not look passable.
However the house was in great condition and very comfortable. The furniture could have been firmer.
A little hard to get out of.
This home was very clean, well kept, management was very easy to work with and pleasure. The house is perfect for a large family with children. We were two families with 7 children combined and this home was everything we needed. The beach and water front had incredible views and made our stay very relaxing, even with that many kids. We would stay here every weekend if we could!
Heron View cottage was a well appointed, beautifully kept place to spend our vacation. A short walk to the beach and close to the quaint downtown of Sidney it was an ideal location. The owner obviously takes great care of it and it was more than comfortable. We would love to return!!!
Quiet location for walking or biking in an interesting neighbourhood of Heritage homes. Owners are helpful and accommodating. Unfortunately the heating does not work in the bedroom but works well as an alarm clock. Supplementary heater was supplied. Suite is in need of minor repairs. Kitchen table very wobbly. Minimum cutlery and dishes supplied. Sofa smells of wet dog. Takes a while to get your deposit returned. Asked twice.
Trs beau condo, propre et bien situ. Satisfait de l’accueil et renseignements de la part du proprio. le condo est trs bien quip et trs grand. Prs de tout. Belle terrasse a l’arrire pour relaxer.
Good location about 25 minutes from the heart of Victoria. Very roomy condo. Very comfortable for our two couple party. Minor hassle with car parking. You have to move the car between two locations every day depending on the time of day or overnight. We would not hesitate to book this property again! Enjoyed it.
Our designated coordinator, Dwayne, refused to meet at the property despite agreeing by phone and informing the cleaning staff that he would arrive at 445PM. Our question regarding the coffee maker was not answered.
Arbutus Hill did not disappoint. The home was extremely clean, beautifully maintained, well stocked, beautiful decor, and located in a beautiful spot in this corner of the world. We had an amazing time and wonderfully situated to get out and explore. I would have like to see hot tub towels or beach towels available to use but otherwise well set up. My only concern was the over-the-top rental agreement, which is managed by a management company. The payment process was a bit extreme and no leniency on checkout time at all. We had to communicate with a number of different representatives through the rental process and all a bit unnecessary. Otherwise a great spot for gathering.
Arrived on a Tue just before 5pm. House is yellow, not red as in photo. Greeter arrived shortly after. He was curt and seemed in a hurry. Property looked unkempt with very long grass, and debris. On Thurs pm a crew arrived to cut grass and pick up some of the debris. Lots of empty wine and liquor bottles and other recycle left in carport. Inside home was not ‘hotel ready’. Had to quickly look and ask for hot tub towels, T-towels, and dishwasher pods. Husband gave greeter a hand full of small debris from the kitchen floor After the greeter left discovered fridge was dirty, spoon rest was dirty, coffee pot had old used grounds, the main shower drain had clump of black hair sitting on top, the kitchen compost bin was 2/3 full. No additional towels or bedding was found. A mini guest shampoo and conditioner was in 2 of 3 bathrooms. 2 bath towels and 1 facecloth in bathrooms. 1 hand towel in each bathroom for 5 guests, includes a toddler. Liquid hand soap in all bathrooms and at kitchen sink. Salt and pepper available. No other food items, no coasters for hot or cold drinks. 2 bedrooms are small-only room for bed, sm. dresser, 1 night table/light. 1 bedroom stores the dresser in the closet. Tight fit for travel playpen in bedroom. Hot tub ok, BBQ ok, TV ok. The small stuffed monkey and rocking swan was a nice surprise for the toddler. Living areas are spacious, kitchen updated and equipped. Sufficient seating indoors and outdoors. Quiet, rural setting. Plaza and grocery store nearby. Would consider staying again with a few improvements. Cleaning fee is too high for condition of home. Better staging and notes on where items are stored, and what is not to be used in the home would help. The 5pm check in and 10am check out seems a bit stingy.
