Spring (March – May)

Spring arrives early on this part of the Island, with gardens blooming by late March and increasingly sunny days throughout the season. Temperatures climb quickly, especially in inland areas, making it a great time for outdoor exploration before the summer crowds arrive.

Summer (June – August)

Summer in Parksville and Qualicum Beach is famously sunny and dry, drawing families and beachgoers from across the Island. With long daylight hours, warm days, and low humidity, it’s ideal for swimming, boating, and outdoor events.

Fall is perfect for birdwatching at the estuaries, enjoying art galleries, and reconnecting with nature at a slower pace.

Winter (December – February)

Winter on the central east coast is relatively dry compared to the Island’s west side. Snow is rare but possible, especially inland, while the coast remains green, wet, and mild. With few visitors, it’s a wonderful time to unwind.

  • Average Lows: 1°C to 3°C (34°F to 37°F)
