Spring (March – May)

Spring in the Comox Valley is full of contrast and possibility. While snow often lingers in the mountains through April, the valley floor sees flowers bloom, trails dry out, and sunshine gradually returns. This is a great time to explore both alpine and coastal areas in the same day.

  • Precipitation: 50–70 mm per month, decreasing toward May

  • Sunshine & Cloud Cover: Brightening skies with longer days

  • Expect: Coastal hikes, quiet beaches, and spring skiing on Mount Washington

  • Average Lows: 9°C to 4°C (48°F to 39°F)

  • Precipitation: 40 mm in early fall, rising to 100+ mm by November

  • Sunshine & Cloud Cover: Shortening days and cloudier afternoons

  • Expect: Vibrant trees, crisp air, and a slower, more reflective pace

Fall is great for farmers’ markets, gallery hopping, and taking in the valley’s changing landscapes on foot.

Winter (December – February)

Winters in the valley are mild near the coast and snowy in the mountains, offering a little something for everyone. Mount Washington Alpine Resort is just 30 minutes from sea level, making snow sports especially accessible.

  • Average Lows: 0°C to 2°C (32°F to 36°F)

  • Precipitation: 80–120 mm per month, with snow at higher elevations

  • Expect: Rain in the valley, snow on the slopes, and green views near the coast
