Spring (March – May)

Spring in Nanaimo is fresh, early, and increasingly bright. The city warms up quickly, and by April, locals are out walking the waterfront, hiking nearby trails, and enjoying café patios. While March can still be rainy, sunshine hours increase steadily through the season.

  • Precipitation: 40–60 mm per month, decreasing into May

Summer (June – August)

  • Expect: Crisp mornings, fewer crowds, and moody shoreline views

Winter (December – February)

Winter in Nanaimo is cool and rainy but rarely severe. Snowfall is minimal at sea level, and temperatures typically hover above freezing. It’s a quiet, green season perfect for off-season stays and enjoying the city’s cozy indoor culture.
