My family of 4 and my 2 in-laws stayed at the Secret Garden for 30 days. The location is ideal. Very close to downtown yet situated in a quiet neighborhood. The rental is very comfortable. The bathrooms in each bedroom gave us plenty of privacy. Since I am a professional pianist, it was also nice that there was a upright piano in the living room. I would recommend the Secret Garden especially for parties of 4-6.

There were several problems with our stay. First the Secret Garden was advertised as having a den in the write-up which usually means a separate room without a door. I chose this unit because of the den which the den turned out to be a living room with a dirty uncomfortable pull out sofa. Second there was construction right beside the building which should have been noted and perhaps reflected that in it's pricing about early morning Saturday noise. Third the washing machine backed up into the master bath shower, therefore had to spend time cleaning watching it not to overflow. There should have been some compensation for that. Isabel was cheerful and helpful which reflected the positive aspect of EMR Vacation Rentals. There were disrespectful neighbors across the street having parties 2 of the nights we were there so our sleep was interrupted during the night and early for construction. I would rent through EMR Vacation Rentals again but perhaps a different unit-or until construction was complete and the washer was fixed.
Thank you very much for sharing your experiences at the Secret Garden. EMR Vacation Rentals did take up your comments about the construction noise, the sofa bed, and the issue about washing machine with the owner.
Owners response; "The sofa and all carpets were professionally cleaned beginning of May. A plumber has checked the appliance and pipes which are in order. Most likely the water backing up into the master shower was caused by using too much detergent. Water in Vancouver is very soft and only a minimum amount of detergent is required."
We are sorry your stay was not perfect and we will endeavour to improve upon the property with the owner. With issues like construction in the neighbourhood are difficult to address since this is a large city with city noise in the background but we will talk about it with the owner to see what can be done. Thank you again and we hope to see you again in the future.
