Sun Peaks British Columbia

Welcome to Sun Peaks Ski Resort…A Tale of Three Mountains.

There’s a reason why Nancy Greene, Olympic Gold Medalist and Female Athlete of the 20th Century, calls Sun Peaks home.

Located in the interior of British Columbia, Sun Peak’s reputation precedes it as one of the best alpine resorts in the province. And with a record of reliable snow conditions stretching over 40 years of operation, it’s really no wonder. For decades, visitors and locals alike have enjoyed the 3,678 acres of skiable terrain that covers 3 mountains and includes 122 runs! From alpine bowls to blue and green cruise runs to steep and deep powder runs, this resort has everything you could want to aim your skis at, whatever your skill level.

And it couldn’t be more accessible. Only a forty-five minute drive from the city of Kamloops, Sun Peaks is the first resort you’ll encounter when travelling east from Vancouver, whether you take the Coquihalla Highway or the Fraser Canyon – a journey that takes approximately 4 hours (or 5.5 hours from Seattle). Arriving by plane couldn’t be easier, either. Daily flight connect from all over the continent and the world via the airports in Kamloops and Kelowna with shuttle services bringing visitors directly from the tarmac to the powder and connecting to the neighbouring provincial resorts of Big White, Silver Star and even Whistler.

But let’s get back to the white stuff. Like its famous neighbour Big White, Sun Peaks is famous for its Champagne Snow, an enviable condition that is created through a combination of factors including location, topography and seasonal weather patterns. The result? Some of the driest, deepest powder on the continent!

Sun Peaks comes equipped with the hardware to take advantage of these perfect conditions. With a total of eleven lifts including 2 quad chairlifts, 3 high-speed quad chairlifts, 1 triple chairlift and 5 surface lifts, there are numerous ways to get around the mountains. Green, blue and even black runs are accessible from the top of every chairlift making it easy to spend the day with loved ones even if you’re hot-dogging while they’re snowplowing! Whatever your calibre, if you and your crew want a glimpse at the big picture, take the complimentary Sun Guide Mountain Tour which leaves daily at 9:15am and 1:00pm from the base of the Sunburst Express Chairlift. Still got questions? Swing by the complimentary Welcome Reception held every Sunday to get a handle on all there is to see and do at Sun Peaks.

Most of this resort’s runs lead directly back to the Village, an impressive hub of mountain activity that includes shops, spas, restaurants and services. Serviced by a clear, well-lit pedestrian walkway across the Valley Trail, this charming ski-through village has something for everyone.

For kids from 18 months to 5 years, the Sundance Playschool at the base of the Sunburst Express Chairlift provides exciting and memorable activities with a combination of indoor and outdoor adventures and includes snack and beverages. Services are available 8am to 4:30pm but book in advance. On the other hand, events that include the tykes can be as fun for mum and dad too. Try the Tube Park, ice skating rink and sleigh rides, the First Trax Breakfast, the Kids Games Night, the Slopeside Movie Night. And after any excursion or exertion, the Sports Centre with its year-round heated pool, hot tub and kid’s pool, provides an appealing break from the snow. And it’s only steps from central Village, next to the Fireside Lodge and the Cahilty Lodge.

But for everything this resort has to offer, The Adventure Centre is the place to be. If it’s fun and occurs at Sun Peaks, it starts here. Bungee trampoline, dog sled tours, snowshoe rentals, snowmobile rentals, international fondue and torchlight descent. it’s all here. The Adventure Centre is open daily during the Winter Season.

When you’re finished working up an appetite, Sun Peaks has a selection of restaurants that cater to any and all tastes. Try 5 Forty Cafe & Deli for a fantastic selection of subs, wraps and bagel sandwiches. Bella Italia creates every dish to order using fine and fresh ingredients to create delectable pasta and seafood creations. Bento’s Day Lodge is home to world famous gooey cinnamon buns and is also available for private parties. Bolacco Cafe is a favourite with local and visiting coffee-jockeys. Bottom’s Bar & Grill has a pub scene that is the envy of alpine bars everywhere. Mackdaddy’s Nightclub brings European influenced light and sound to a uniquely natural nightclub setting. And the list goes on. Long story short, the gastronomical scene at Sun Peaks is nothing short of astronomical.

Why is Sun Peaks special? Because it isn’t Whistler, it isn’t Big White and it isn’t Silver Star. It’s Sun Peaks. And your unique alpine vacation is waiting!
